SUMMARY DESCRIPTION The position is responsible for the daily activities associated with planning, designing, building, troubleshooting, administering, maintaining and supporting company wide information systems. The Systems Engineer is responsible for all aspects of administration and support for all domestic and international offices as well as home users, including computers, networks, applications, databases, and telecommunications. This includes implementation, configuration, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, usage monitoring and the development of specialized system procedures. Must comprehend legacy, current and emerging technologies and possess the ability to articulate the value of technology to the business.



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills; capable of writing business justifications, explain complex technical issues using simple terms, making presentations and/or training to an internal audience, and interact positively with the global Information Systems organization.
  • Maintain cutting-edge technical expertise and takes a proactive approach to minimize risk in managing networks and production servers to ensure on-going technical and engineering services are maintained; integration of new requirements and technologies are achieved; and overarching system architectural issues are managed and coordinated as required.
  • Support company-wide Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007 servers in order to meet and maintain appropriate service levels. Responsible for planning, testing, tuning, configuration and setup of Microsoft Exchange architecture. Responsible for email related applications and services, including but not limited to Blackberry Enterprise Server, SonicWall email security, McAfee GroupShield, Active Directory, DNS, SMTP and related services
  • Possess hands-on scripting skills including but not limited to batch scripts, VB script and Windows PowerShell.
  • Secondary support for the corporate file server, corporate data backup management with Symantec BackupExec
  • Performs off-hours maintenance and provides off hours support of Information Systems as needed.
  • Creates and maintains accurate documentation including system design and installation procedures, remote access, security, change management and other documentation
  • Experience in a regulated environment: Sarbanes Oxley, 21CFR Part 11, etc.


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field. Technical Certifications

(MCP, MCSE, VCP) and/or other preferred, however relevant work experience will be considered.

  • Experience: 5-7 years of hands-on experience working in a corporate environment supporting Windows based Information Systems in LAN/WAN environment
  • VMware Certified Professional (ESX 3/ vSphere 4) a strong plus
  • NetApp Certifications a plus
  • Cisco certifications a plus
  • VMware View (VDI) and Site Recovery Manager (SRM) a plus
  • Specific knowledge of MS Windows 2003/2008 Server required, as well as working knowledge of MS Active Directory and Experience with MS Exchange 2003/2007/2010
